Single Origin

Single-origin means the coffee in the bag comes from one place — one country at minimum, and in specialty coffee usually one farm, station, or lot — so what you taste is that place, not a blend smoothing it over. This collection is DABOV's single-origin roster, sourced direct and selected by founder Jordan Dabov, a licensed Q-grader — the professional certification for evaluating arabica coffee.

How do coffee origins differ in taste?

Geography is flavor. The Ethiopian lots — from Ethiopia Shantawene to the anaerobic-processed Ethiopia Karamo — come from coffee's birthplace and its floral, fruit-forward end of the spectrum. Honduras shows the range possible within one country: Finca El Puente, Caballero, and two prized Geisha lots. Colombia brings the experimental edge, with Colombia Helena Natural and a headline-grabbing Banana Fermentation lot. Nicaragua answers with El Suspiro and Los Placeres, Costa Rica sends Tarrazu — one of its most storied growing regions — and then there are the legends: Jamaica Blue Mountain and Kopi Luwak, two of the most famous names in all of coffee.

If you want to buy single origin coffee online without gambling, start from the profile you already enjoy. Ethiopia for bright, tea-like cups; Honduras and Nicaragua for balance and sweetness; Colombia when you're feeling adventurous about processing; and a Semi decaf when you want the flavor journey with less caffeine along for the ride.
