Mexico La Perla is a washed specialty coffee from La Perla farm in Ixhuacán de los Reyes, Veracruz — the farm that took first place at the 2024 Mexico Cup of Excellence — grown at 1,500–1,700 meters by three-time Cup of Excellence winner Ernesto Perez, and roasted super-light to showcase ice cream, cherry, and multi-layered chocolate. Competition pedigree usually costs a fortune; this is the accessible way to drink it.

The farm's story is remarkable for how short it is. La Perla stood unplanted until 2021, and within its first real harvests it had won Mexico's national competition outright — a result that reflects Ernesto Perez's site selection and farm management more than luck, coming from a producer DABOV recognizes as a Star Coffee Farmer. His more classical lot, Mexico Fatima, shows the same hand at work in an everyday register.

In the cup, La Perla is indulgent and precise at once: creamy, dessert-like sweetness, juicy cherry, and chocolate that unfolds in layers rather than landing as one note, with a dense, velvety body underneath. The washed process keeps every layer defined. Taste it alongside Fatima in The Taste of Mexico box, or browse more competition-grade lots in our Exclusive Coffees collection.
