Nicaragua La Huella is a light-roast, washed Anacafe 14 from Matagalpa, cupping with caramel, red apple, and tangerine for a bright, well-rounded profile. "La Huella" — Spanish for "the footprint" or "the trace" — is a fitting name for a lot grown from one of Central America's more recently developed varieties, one that's only started leaving its mark on specialty coffee menus over the past decade.

Anacafe 14 isn't a heritage varietal like Bourbon or Typica; it's a modern hybrid bred specifically for disease resistance and reliable yields without giving up cup quality, and this lot shows why growers have taken to it — the caramel sweetness and apple-tangerine brightness read as clean and well-balanced rather than as a compromise variety. Washing the cherry before drying keeps that balance precise: the citrus and apple notes stay distinct rather than blurring into a heavier, more fermented cup.

It's a versatile, crowd-pleasing lot suited to drinkers who want brightness without the more intense, occasionally polarizing acidity of a natural-processed or high-altitude gesha-style coffee. For a richer, more chocolate-forward Matagalpa lot from the same region, DABOV also carries Nicaragua El Suspiro. La Huella sits in our Bright & Fruity collection.
