Who It's For

The Sync Scale earns its full value on a bar that already runs, or is buying into, the E65T GbS or E65W GbS — the scale is what measures each shot's timing and pushes it to the Mahlkönig Cloud, which is the half of the feedback loop that makes those grinders' automatic correction actually happen. Without a Sync-compatible grinder paired to it, two of its five modes go unused.

That said, it's a legitimate 0.1g precision scale and shot timer on its own, so a shop that wants an accurate, well-built bar scale — and might add a Sync grinder later — isn't buying something that only works in one configuration. A cafe with no interest in the connected features at all, and no plans to run a Sync grinder, is better served by a simpler dedicated espresso scale rather than paying for Sync capability it won't use.
