ABOUT THE COFFEE:

Malawi Pamwamba captivates with its sophisticated and refreshing flavor profile, combining the exotic sweetness of tropical fruits, the smoothness of honey, and the light acidity of kiwi. This coffee is a celebration of balance, offering an invigorating and indulgent experience in every cup.

A Journey Through the Heart of Malawi

Originating from the Mpanga Estate and Ngapani Estate, this coffee embodies the essence of Malawi’s rich landscape. The estates were established in 1988 when the land was returned from state ownership to private hands. These farms are certified by the Rainforest Alliance and feature deep, fertile red soil that is enriched by well-drained sandy clay. The ongoing tree planting program introduces rows of local trees between the coffee plots, including African red mahogany (Khyana Nyasica), as well as around 500 hectares of macadamia trees, which contribute to the biodiversity and health of the coffee farms.

The Perfect Blend of Varieties

The coffee on these estates is a carefully cultivated blend of SL28 and Catimor 129, varieties known for their vibrant flavor profiles. These varieties are harvested together, offering a unique fusion of tastes. The coffee blooms after the first rains in early November, and the early picking of ripe cherries begins at the end of May, with the main harvest taking place from June to August. The harvested coffee cherries are depulped at the estate’s wet mill, then sun-dried and stored for about six weeks before being sent to the dry mill for final processing and sorting.

Flavor Profile

The flavor profile of Malawi Pamwamba is an exquisite balance of tropical fruit sweetness, light acidity, and smooth honey notes. The tropical fruit undertones evoke a sense of vibrant freshness, while the kiwi adds a zesty, citrus-like acidity that enhances the coffee’s overall brightness. The honey notes provide a gentle sweetness that lingers in the aftertaste, creating a beautifully rounded cup. This medium-light roast accentuates the clarity and complexity of these flavors, making each sip a truly delightful experience.

Brewing the Perfect Cup

Malawi Pamwamba is a versatile coffee that can be brewed using a variety of methods. Whether you prefer espresso, pour-over, or French press, the bright and balanced profile will shine through. Its combination of sweetness, acidity, and smooth finish makes it perfect for those who enjoy a lively, yet refined cup of coffee.
