"Take It Easy" is a DABOV house blend rather than a single-origin coffee, so there's no one farm, region, or altitude to point to the way there is with our country-specific lots — a blend's identity comes from how its components are combined and roasted, not from one named estate. Izabel's Blend keeps its exact origin recipe private — the blend is defined by its cup character rather than a component list.

The roast is documented: our whole-bean "Take It Easy" 7oz bag is a medium roast, and this capsule draws on that same blend recipe, roasted and ground specifically for capsule espresso extraction rather than the broader-purpose roast used for the whole-bean bag. That's a normal difference between a bag meant for any brew method and a capsule tuned for one — same blend identity, format-specific roast profile.

The blend sits in our Balanced Blends lineup, DABOV's category for coffees built around consistency and approachability rather than a single dramatic flavor note — the house-blend counterpart to our single-origin and competition-lot coffees.

Caramel, Cookies, Milk Chocolate

This blend cups sweet and comforting: caramel up front, a cookie-like baked-sugar warmth through the middle, and milk chocolate carrying the finish — all in the SCA flavor wheel's sweet/caramelized and cocoa/nutty families, with none of the fruit or floral brightness of a single-origin lot. Body is medium, acidity is low, and the overall impression is smooth rather than complex.

That's the point of a house blend built for ease: it isn't chasing one standout characteristic the way a single-origin lot does, it's balanced to taste good black, with milk, or however you happen to be drinking it that day. The medium roast keeps the caramel and cookie notes from tipping into bitterness while still giving enough body to hold up in a short espresso shot.

Nespresso Original-Format Fit

This capsule is sized to the Nespresso Original-format spec used by OriginalLine-style single-serve machines, currently sold only as a 10-count box rather than the larger sizes some of our other capsules offer. It's an independently produced DABOV product, built to be compatible with that machine format — not manufactured, licensed, or endorsed by Société des Produits Nestlé S.A., which owns the Nespresso trademark.

It won't work in a Nespresso Vertuo machine: Vertuo uses a different, larger, barcode-read capsule that the machine scans and spins to brew, and the Original-format shell here isn't built to that spec.

The box also states two things plainly: 100% Arabica beans, and a capsule shell that's 100% compostable — a genuine point in its favor next to the aluminum capsules most of the category still uses.

We don't quote a Nespresso-style 1–13 intensity number for this blend, but its medium body, low acidity, and caramel-forward sweetness land as a mellow, easy, everyday-strength shot rather than a sharp or aggressive one.

Where a single-origin lot is meant to showcase one farm's or region's specific character, a blend is designed by combining multiple lots to hit a consistent, repeatable flavor target year-round — a different craft, not a lesser one.

• Capsule roasts are typically calibrated differently than whole-bean roasts, even for the same blend. Espresso extraction under pressure pulls flavor compounds faster and more forcefully than drip or pour-over, so roasters often adjust roast profile specifically for capsule or espresso formats rather than reusing one roast curve across every brew method.

• "Medium roast" sits at the midpoint of a wide roasting spectrum. It develops more caramelization and body than a light roast while retaining more of the bean's original sweetness than a dark roast — the balance that gives this blend its caramel-and-cookie character rather than a heavier, more bitter profile.

• Ten-count boxes are a common way to trial a new capsule without committing to a large one. Compared to the 70- or 110-count boxes some capsule coffees ship in, a smaller fixed box size is typically aimed at first-time buyers or households that don't brew capsule espresso daily.
