Lower elevation generally produces a milder, less acidic bean, which is a large part of why Brazilian coffee reads as smooth and rounded rather than bright.

Our whole-bean Brazil by DABOV lot is grown at high altitude in the Sul de Minas region from Yellow Bourbon trees, naturally processed, with cocoa liqueur, hazelnut, and cane sugar in the cup. This capsule draws on the same national origin character but isn't the identical lot or roast — it's roasted and ground specifically for capsule espresso extraction, which is why its own flavor notes (biscuit, milk chocolate, toffee) read a little differently than the whole-bean bag's. Both are genuinely Brazilian coffee; the difference is format and roast target, not origin.

Brazil's coffee industry has also pioneered processing methods built for its drier climate and larger farm scale — natural and pulped-natural drying that suit high-volume production without sacrificing sweetness, a big reason Brazilian lots are a reliable, consistent base for espresso at any scale, capsule included.

Biscuit, Milk Chocolate, Toffee

This capsule cups with a baked-biscuit sweetness up front, milk chocolate through the body, and toffee lingering into the finish — all in the cocoa/sweet and nutty sub-categories of the SCA flavor wheel rather than the fruity or floral register. Acidity is low and body is full for an espresso capsule, which is exactly the combination that holds up under milk.

That low-acid, chocolate-forward profile is a direct product of Brazil's growing conditions and processing tradition rather than a roast trick — lower-altitude Arabica naturally develops less acidity than high-grown beans, and the sugars concentrated during drying show up as the toffee and biscuit sweetness here. Drink it black for a mellow, straightforward shot, or use it as the base for a latte or cappuccino, where its low acidity means the espresso flavor won't turn sour once milk is added.

These are classic Nespresso Original-format capsules — the small, truncated-cone shape most people picture when they hear "Nespresso" — built to fit OriginalLine-style single-serve machines, and sold in 10-, 70-, or 110-capsule boxes. DABOV makes them independently to work with that machine format; this product has no affiliation with, and isn't licensed or endorsed by, Société des Produits Nestlé S.A., the Nespresso trademark holder.

To be direct about the one machine it won't fit: this is an Original-format capsule, not a Vertuo one, and Nespresso's Vertuo machines use a completely different, larger, barcode-read capsule that the machine scans and spins during brewing — the two systems aren't interchangeable in either direction.

Something else the box confirms without hedging: the beans are 100% Arabica and the capsule shell is 100% compostable, which sets it apart from the aluminum capsules that still dominate the category. If cutting down on single-serve waste matters to you, that's a genuine reason to reach for this one over a standard foil pod.

As for strength, we don't publish a 1–13 number the way Nespresso does for its own lineup, but the low acidity and heavy chocolate-and-nut register here read as a fuller, mellower shot — closer to a classic dark-leaning espresso than a sharp, aggressive one.
